A nasal spray research kit packs three items in one box: a vial of the lyophilised peptide, bacteriostatic water and an empty metered nasal spray bottle. Nothing is pre-mixed. The compound stays as a dry powder until a laboratory prepares it, which keeps it as stable in transit as any other vial, and the empty bottle lets the solution be transferred into a container that releases a fixed volume with each press.
Handling in the lab starts like any vial. The bacteriostatic water is added slowly to the peptide vial, the vial is swirled gently until the powder has dissolved, and the solution is then transferred into the spray bottle. Because each actuation releases a set volume, researchers work out the amount per actuation from the vial content and the water volume before they begin. Once prepared, the solution is kept refrigerated and away from light, and the bottle is labelled with the compound, the concentration and the preparation date.
